Tips of Resume Writing For High School Students
from:Crafting your first resume writing as a high school graduate is a challenging job. As a fresh graduate you have only educational information to put on the application. It would be better if you go through a few simple resume writing tips to give your resume a polished, professional and more comprehensive look. Writing job resume for professionals or those with additional work experience or education is different from that of high school students in many forms. If you are a high school graduate, the following guidelines can help you to write the best possible resume to get an interview for a summer work experience or a college internship.
Try to focus on relevant information while resume writing. When you have a limited work experience it is important to clearly highlight the related parts of the previous job or jobs to what is required for the job you are applying for. When you apply for the job of a cashier and previously worked in the school concession stand, it is imperative for you to indicate that you were responsible for processing sales transactions, making change and balancing the register after your shift ended. Give a list of such related duties while resume writing, which you can regularly complete as a responsible employee. Your resume should also include a list of specific training you had for the employment job such as computer training or customer service training whichever is applicable.
Resume writing should mention details of your extracurricular interests and hobbies. When you belong to any specific organizations or associations that are related to the field of work you are applying. Resume writing may also indicate your responsibilities as a volunteer in the school, at a childcare center, at the community center or even in a business or charity. If you have had a leadership role in any association, society or a high school program then provide enough details to clarify the resume reader about the responsibilities you assumed.
A valuable resume writing tip is to include your special skills in your resume. Take time to make a detail list of your special skills such as proficiency with computers, ability to speak another language, knowledge of sign language, and experience in working with special needs of individuals. These are viable skills in the place of work whether you have learned them outside your school or even at your own home. All said and done, never ever adorn or exaggerate your qualifications or skills while resume writing. Try to be firm, positive and passionate but also be sensible. If you are honest you can convey a candid and clear profile, while any extra ornamentation may make the resume reader skeptical about your skills.
